I used to use the new launcher to play the older versions. Until I found out how laggy it is. I searched for other custom launchers and ran old versions on them but to no avail. No matter what I try the older versions lag. Before the new launcher it ran fine.
Also, the nature of the lag is just strange. It increases tenfold in fullscreen, and in small screen it's still a bit slower than normal. This is independent of what the graphics or render settings are, or my settings in optifine or whether optifine and mod loader is running or not. The latest versions 1.6.2+ run great. Nothing else.

XD why are you trying to play on older versions anyway? XD probs because the biomes have been edited... this effects like for me in 1.8 in a taiga biome, im surprised it doesnt crash. They altered taiga in 1.8 i found and its impossible to play in there now. yeeaa.. so just don't play that old of versions. XD

This doesn't solve my problem. I fixed it myself, thank you very much. Some people LIKE the old versions for the old terrain, because the new terrain sucks!
