So I've been trying to install forge 1.7.10 for my computer (Windows Vista) and I'd like to also state that even earlier versions that I was at one point able to download get stuck like this too. I've tried multiple different versions of forge and all of them get stuck like this:
and go no further. The only 'solution' I found after hours of searching the forums and web was an alternate launcher known as MultiMC and while forge works with it, MCA (which is one of the primary mods I use) won't play nice.
It's really frustrating me. I miss using my mods and I can't figure it out. Halp me ;-;
Downloading libraries
-Unpacking packed file scala-compiler-2.10.1.jar.pack.xz

So for anyone one else who might be looking for this I took a Few steps so I'm not Entirely sure what made it finally work but here is what I did:
updated Java
ran the command prompt
added '-Xmx1G' before the -jar command
and Bam. Here's the link to the video on how to manually run the file -
