Hey y'all. Trying to figure out why I'm getting poor framerates.
Compy Specs:
Geforce GTX 970 with latest 347.09 drivers
Opteron 6344 (12-core, 3.2Ghz Turbo)
16GB RAM
250GB SSD
Windows 8.1
I'm getting 30-40 FPS at 3840x2160 / 40-60 FPS at 1920x1080 with normal graphics and 10-20 FPS at 3840x2160 with shaders. Changing between 16 and 32 render distance makes minimal performance difference.
Running Minecraft 1.8.1 and 1.7.10 with latest (as of 12/28) OptiFine and Forge (I uninstalled all mods to check framerate), latest (8.25) 64-bit Java and 8GB memory allocated to Minecraft
I see other people with GTX 970 and R9 290X cards getting 200-300FPS at 1080P and 100-200FPS at 2160P stock and over 60FPS with shaders, so what the heck is happening to me? Yes, I know many-core AMD CPUs are not as fast as Intel for gaming (I mostly do CAD on this computer) but there's literally no way that could cause me to get 5X less framerate than ppl with i7's. This computer runs Crysis & the STALKER series maxed-out at 2160P at 30-40FPS so this is definitely just a Minecraft issue
Halp plox!
