Title says it all but here's the details. I play on a friends server. The strangest thing is my OLD system a10-6700 quad core and Powercolor 7870 played great. My new rig however barely passes 20 FPS. My specs are as follows. Also all 8 threads of my CPU max out even in vanilla minecraft. I'm not really a fan of intel CPU's. This i7-4790k has been my first intel CPU since my old dual Xeon rig and has disappointing me at every turn. I'm almost positive that the CPU is the problem but i'm open to suggestions.

Also I've tried different ram, another GPU, and a fresh install of windows.

CPU: i7-4790k

GPU: Sapphire R9 280 DualX

Mobo: MSI z97 Gaming 9

RAM: 12G DDr3 1866 Corsair vengeance

STORAGE: Dual 128G PNY SSD's on RAID 0

PSU: Corsair CX750M

COOLER: H100i

As for the issue, I heard some R9 280s had weird problems with dropping FPS in games. Try googling that.

Actually tried with another GPU also. Same issue.

not sure how to find javm arguments. I have 3gb allocated to the game.

Just popping in to say I'm having the same issue; I'll be keeping an eye in this thread. I'm using an Opteron 6344 (3.2Ghz) and a R9 290X and only getting ~30FPS. How the heck are people with older hardware than us claiming crazy numbers like 200-300FPS?

Are you creating default worlds or are you using if its 1.7.10 amplified or Biomes o Plenty worlds, because those types due use alot more resources, than normal "default maps.

biomes of plenty. My friend has the same rig and gets flawless fps. I actually have this working perfectly on my 27" imac. makes no sense that its not working on my nice rig
