I have a severe issue. I just got a brand new Windows 7 computer, and one of the first thing I am doing is getting Minecraft onto it.
When I try to run the file (both the Minecraft.msi and Minecraft.exe files do this), I get a window popping up that say 'Downloading Runtime' with a status bar that says '0/40.34MB'. When the status bar gets to about 4MB finished, it flashes, then restarts the download at 0MB. Then it closes after about a minute.
The Minecraft.exe file generates a folder called 'game', and a text file called 'nativelog' when I run it. After all of the above happens, the text file has this inside:
I have installed Java 1.8.0_25 (both 64-bit and 32-bit) and set the JAVA_HOME system variable to the file path of the 64-bit jre, but all of the above still happens. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? Minecraft is my life, so this means a lot to me.
Try downloading the old launcher, available here. Note that you should only install one version of Java on your system for your system's version: 32 bit java for 32 bit system, and 64 bit java for 64 bit system. Uninstall the version of Java that doesn't apply to your system, and you should be fine.
Sorry about any trouble that I may have caused, but I just discovered that this is an issue with my computer. My download speed is a horrible 0.9MB per second, so Minecraft aborted the download while installing its own runtime. The issue is happening with every single one of my model of laptop, and is so bad that HP is having an entire team working on the issue. So it was actually out of my control. Thanks for the reply though, Hamachi Chicken.
