I am playing with no mods, using a simple, "low lag" texture pack. I use a lenovo g460 i3, and would expect no lag. I was working in creative, and there are lots of slimes which could be causing the lag. I was experiencing fps anywhere from 2 to 6, and it was making it hard to work, then it would jump up to 60 for like 2 seconds, then go back down. I am using optifine and one gig of ram. I tried changing the ram to 2, as i have 6 gigs of ram on the laptop, but it said that there was not enough ram when there clearly was. Any suggestions other than buying a new laptop?

I think part of the problem was overheating; I had it on my lap, but when I moved it to my desk, it popped back up to an average of 15 fps. However, this is still pretty laggy so suggestions are helpful. Thanks.

I am using a cooling pad now, and the temp has dropped considerably. I also changed the energy settings but it is still lagging some. Do you know if it is normal for an i3 to run around 15 fps?

A decent i3 processor should run at least 30 fps normally. What you need to do is drastically reduce the temperature of your laptop. I would recommend getting a decent cooling fan with adjustable fan locations. What laptop manufacturers do is just stuff a powerful processor in a machine without properly testing heat output first.

Its the computer itself, lenovo computers have been known for not being able to do anything but surf the web so the fact that you can even play is quite incredible

No, it's probable that it's using the correct graphics unit, considering the behavior of the FPS matches the behavior of an overheating GPU.

Yeah, Lenovo is known for not being able to regulate the temperature of the hardware in laptops. I was going to get a Lenovo, but settled on a MacBook Pro, even if it did have lower specs.

Now THAT is a beast. I've tried it, and it's the best laptop I've ever seen. But it's not really meant for use on your lap. It just gets way too hot to hold comfortably.

I know, I have a cooling pad set up for it and I will try and get the razer blackwidow chroma and the mamba maouse and possibly the kraken headset

I am using a cooling fan and the temp has decreased by about 10 deg. celcius, however, it is still fairly laggy. my guess is ill just have to live with it or sell the Lenovo and get a new laptop.

You are probably not using 64bit java. Uninstall java completely and download the 64bit, version 8 java.

Its a nice device, but stupidly overpriced. You can get more bang for your buck and not deal with heat by getting a higher end laptop like an ASUS.

Thats my second choice, an asus rog laptop, I dont know which model though

I think my main prob was overheating. I fixed it by not using my lap and using a laptop cooling pad and desk if anyone has these problems
