Have a new(ish) laptop Win7 32 bit laptop HP635 that I am trying to get setup. We've played minecraft for quite sometime on our desktop Vista system will no problems and assumed I could get it to work well on a newer laptop, no luck so far. Tried to make sure the java and OS were fully updated. When I looked at the logs, there was something about outdated runtime and a failed to move and failed to start error. Minecraft log is as follows...

My Java is ver 7.0.51, do I have a wrong version of minecraft SW or java, or is there something else I'm missing. Hoped to have this new laptop setup for my son for Christmas, he'd be mighty sad if he had to do without minecraft. Thanks!

Hello, i suggest you try FTB launcher. (it has option vanila minecraft or pre-configurated mod packs)

current java version is jre-7u71, google and install it (right click and select run as Administrator)

press window+r and type cmd and run it. type java -version into black screen, If you did correct it will show you something like Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_71-b14)

last tip make sure you run minecraft with -XX:PermSize=256m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m arguments (it must have for almost mod packs)

Try using the prior launcher, the latest launcher has a few rough spots. It's available from under the 'show all platforms' section of the minecraft.net page, which links to here: https://s3.amazonaws.com/Minecraft.Download/launcher/Minecraft.exe

Thanks, the old launcher still works fine and everything seems to be working as far as I can tell. TY again to both of you for the prompt reply.

I just tried to download minecraft, but it just keeps saying downloading runtime and then restarts help me plz!!!
