Can't even get to the play button

New player. Fresh install. After downloading and running MinecraftInstaller.msi I get an icon on my desktop. When I doubleclick the icon I get an error message box that says 'unknown error' and minecraft creates a nativelog.txt that reads:

Any help is greatly appreciated because as of now I can't play minecraft and just threw $27 in the internet's toilet.

Give the old launcher a try https://s3.amazonaws.com/Minecraft.Download/launcher/Minecraft.exe

It maybe the new one launcher/installer isn't happy with the age of your operating system

Old launcher is working great! Thanks! I need to upgrade this old box. I'm going to go make and hold a sign by the road 'Will Work For New Gaming Rig'

glad that works, i maybe wrong with the not liking the older os, but its kinda the only theory i have right now as the new launcher is new
