Just recently my main computer died and I've head to the closet to take out my handy dandy old ass tower. I used to play minecraft on this thing all the time, and I would get hundreds of FPS off of it. Well, a year later, I need to use it again. I boot it up, I try to open minecraft... and nothing. Blackness where Mojang should be. I suspect it's the graphics card so I dig around in my closet for another card and I replace it and download the new drivers. Works like a charm! But this time something odd has happened: Minecraft is basically running at 1 frame a second, even in the launcher. It's so bad I can't even get to the "Play" section. I don't know what is causing it, so I update Java to 8.25, I recheck all the drivers, I restart MC and the same thing.
So me trying to troubleshoot, I decide to try Minecraft 1.0, then lo and behold, I'm cranking out nearly 90 fps. I close MC again and try 1.7.10, boom, back down to 1 fps. To be fair, this is a very old machine, and I'll post the specs below, but what would cause the newer version of minecraft to run so badly compared to the older, and what can I do to repair this?
Specs:
Windows XP Profession Version, 2002, service pack 3
That's a possibility I thought as well and one that I'm hoping isn't the case :/.. But upon further experimentation I discovered that the minecraft versions work all the way up to 1.7.2, then when I try 1.7.4 it begins the lag again.
the newer versions work differently and require more power, i think its just a case of that system just can't handle the newer versions

Also, forgive me for my horrid forum skills xD. This is my first topic basically ever, I'm still trying to figure out how it all works.

Okay, so how would fix that?
I managed to get it working with this mod

It works like a charm and I wish luck to those who have this problem also!
