I'm currently playing in a single player world I created using 1.8.1. The problem I've been having is the game not saving on exit. Returning to the world I'll find things I've done (buildings made, ores mined, ground leveled, etc.) are not 'done' anymore. Items placed in chests are not there. Sometimes this follows closing the game and it freezes, but not always, sometimes it closes just fine.
Some details:
I've been playing Minecraft on this computer for over a year now with no issues until updating to 1.8.1
Intel i5-370k 3.6 GHz
16Gb DDR3 Ram
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 (768 MB)
Windows 7 SP1
Running Zone Alarm with anti-virus
What I've tried:
Updating all drivers (few needed since I keep my system up to date)
Updated Java
Defragged several times
Given user permissions to the save folders and files
Copied the game save folder and used the copy instead
Tried running with firewall and anti-virus off as well as on
Sat in game waiting for all chunk updates to finish to 0
Many other little things.
Nothing helped.
As stated I've been playing on my system for over a year, it's been running the same OS install for over 2 years. Since I was wanting to reinstall my OS anyway I did the following:
Purchased NEW HDD for my boot drive (WD Blue 1 Tb 64Mb cache)
Complete reinstall of Windows 7 SP1 along with all updates and patches
Fresh install of all up-to-date drivers
Fresh install of both 32bit and 64bit JavaFresh download and install of all Minecraft files
Complete system defrag several times
Enjoy my system being fast and new, except for......
Minecraft STILL randomly does not save my single player game. It's like I never did a thing.
Also, I run no MODs at all, no texture packs, nothing. Completely vanilla. Also fully registered, not cracked.
Does anyone have any suggestions??
