I had shaders (SEUS) and a resource pack enabled in the video, but I have tested with those disabled - default textures and (none) shader - the problem is the same.
It seems to mainly occur in areas around lava/fire?
I have already set Threaded Optimization to "Off" for Minecraft in my Nvidia control panel as a result of searching for another graphical issue related to OptiFine.
