Hi I am playing on 1.7.10 with a few mods installed in singleplayer and in certain areas of my world I get this weird error where all the mobs like monsters and animals in my game stop moving, hitting them or pushing them does nothing, they are frozen also I can break blocks but cant collect any, I can move just fine and the night day cycle keeps going but nobody will move except me, it appears that the world will also stop loading chunks, If I quit the game by pressing esc the screen gets stuck in shutting down internal server and I have to force close minecraft, I dont know why this is happening the game is not crashing but becomes unplayable and I have no crash reports so I have no idea if any mods are conflicting with eachother, I thought it was a RAM problem but I already allocated 2gb to minecraft and in the task manager I can see I still have a lot of ram avaliable when playing minecraft, does anyone have any idea as to why this is happenning? It is really strange, btw I am on windows 7 using 64bit java, my cpu is intel i5 3 GHz.

Same thing happens to me. Try checking your game output, it usally says something like "Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is Minecraft out of memory? Skipping Xm, skipping X frames!"

How do you fix it? is it caused by a mod? when the bug happens this is all I get:

When I force close minecraft I get these numbers in my game output:

Managed to find the responsible mod by elimination, it was oceancraft, removing the mod fixed the mobs freezing bug in that mushroom area. I thought removing the mod would resolve the mobs freezing bug completely but it still happens in another area of my world with oceancraft uninstalled, removing the mod just fixed the freeze bug in that one area, it doesnt make any sense anyone has any idea why is this happening? I cant believe nobody has experienced this bug.

update: found the mod responsible for freezing my world in two areas, it was the goblins and giants mod, shame really it had pretty cool looking mobs like vampires and giants, hope the mod removal fixes the issue definitely.

Update: apparently this is a known bug of the goblins and giants mod but the mod creator doesnt know how to fix it and he needs help, could someone with mods experience look through his code and find the issue? That would be awesome:

What could be causing mobs to freeze in a mod?

I actually wanna cry tears of joy!! Thank you for helping me locate which mod was causing so much trouble!! It never failed that no matter how many new world I created, very soon I was gonna run into a whole LINE of chunks that surrounded my spawnpoint that cause this issue! I run with over 150 mods so it was gonna be almost impossible to pinpoint this one mod, especially since I thought Goblins and Giants has very little to do with world gen. I'm sorry for anybody who likes this mod, but i was also very expendable for me, too. In the 2 years that i've used it, I have never seen a goblin or a giant, and I have never even figured out how to get to this mystical Savannah Dimension. Again! Thanks!
