it has been a while since i used Minecraft so i did a complete reinstall of the game and downloaded the new 1.8.1. However whenever i attempt to open an existing world or create a new one the game freezes on the "loading world building terrain" screen. I have tried pushing it back to a previous installation of minecraft (1.8 since i know that it worked on this version) but it came up with the same results. Also clicking on the multiplayer button in the menu seems to crash minecraft as well or just take a very long time to load the multiplayer menu.
I have allocated plenty of space to minecraft (4G) with 16 gigabytes of RAM but it is still happening. I have updated java to Java 8 Update 25.
attached below is one of the crash logs that appears after about 3 minutes of the frozen screen
