For a while now my inventory will randomly close on its own with no common action taking place between each instance. Sometimes it will take up to several minutes to happen, all the way to the moment I actually press the button. I've lost several items this way, as when I am crafting or transferring items between my inventory and chests, the inventory will close, and the item will be lost in who knows where

I've been able to find the problem mod (I believe; this is a relatively difficult bug to test given its random nature), and it ended up being NEI. I suppose the solution would be to disable the mod, but I'd rather find a solution or at least understand why this is happening before doing that. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

(And yes, I know this is an outdated modpack - I just keep it because I enjoy 1.4 and am more familiar with this modpack's workings.)

I was going to ask on that site but I don't have permissions to start a thread. I guess it's because I'm a noob or I'm missing something integral.

Ok. Well if you think it is NEI, then try describing this to the NEI author (chickenbone). Make sure you submit some sort of report, be it launcher log or game output + list of his mod versions as well as other mods you're running (by file name), cause chances are someone in the NEI thread has seen this interaction before. I don't know where else to send you for a version this old.
