I finally got my new graphics card today. Excited, I quickly installed it and immediately put on minecraft. I installed the shaders too (SEUS) and I tried out minecraft on the Forge profile (had to downgrade from 1.8 to 1.7.10) and ALL my stuff is GONE!!! All the stuff I was holding, all the stuff that was in my chests, EVERYTHING! It's gone! I don't know what to do. I tried switching back to my old profile, nothing would work. I don't have a backup of my world and the last computer backup I have is from over 2 weeks ago which I can't do since I would lose my world progress.
This is a known issue, 1.7 and 1.8 handle items in different ways so when downgrading from 1.8 to 1.7 the 1.7 version doesn't understand the 1.8 item format and just deletes them.
unless you have a backup the only way to get them back is to use creative or similar to 'cheat' them back

How do I switch my survival world to creative temporarily to replace items?
if your game allows cheats open the chat (t by default) and type ' /gamemode 1 ' for creative, and ' /gamemode 0 ' for survival.
if however cheats are not enabled, you will need to open the menu, and click open to lan, make sure allow cheats is selected, then do the above to change modes
