I saw this same thing in another post earlier today.
This glitch has been around for a long time, but since the 1.8.1 update, it's been showing up a lot more. Someone on that other post said you should just exit out and go back in and it should be fine.

They may not be rendering, try pushing f3+a that will cause it to re-render the visible chunks, if they don't appear after that then yea they aren't loading and you'll need to relog

Glad that seems to help, it means that the chunks are actually loading just not rendering properly, could tell because you can see the sky through them, if the chunk isn't loading at all then you can't see anything through them, it'll just be pure white where you can see the sky in your pics but if it's just render problem then you can see the sky and other objects like signs etc.
