I have a rather large map that I made in world painter. To color some areas of the map, I used ocean biomes. When minecraft updated to 1.8, several ocean monuments spawned on my map in places where they shouldn't be… like, on LAND. Luckily, I had a backup of my world, but I would really like to update it to 1.8 In order to do so, I need to disable retro-gen. Does anyone know how to do so?

Does anyone know a way that I could work around this issue? It's been quite a while and I'd like to continue work on my project, however the ocean monuments spawn in several locations that make this impossible. I've managed to destroy most of the temples between when I last posted and now, but the guardians are still spawning, which is a large issue as well. However, setting the game to peaceful or disabling natural mob spawning is really out of the question. What I really need is something that will disable the areas where the guardians/ocean monuments spawn. If no one has a fix for this, I'll have to just redo the entire map

I don't know much about the ocean monuments, but if they only spawn when generate structures is on, then you might be able to edit your level.dat and disable that... it will of course affect all other structures as well.
You would have to go hang out at each monument spawn point for some in game time and then (according to dinnerbone) the monument won't spawn there on upgrade.
