Every time I join a Minecraft server, this thing happens. I'll play for about 5 minutes, when everything freezes. I can't open chests, people don't move, I can't break blocks. After about 10 seconds, I get disconnected from the server with the message, "Internal Exception: java.io.IOException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host". This is not an isolated incident. It happens on every server I join, and the other people on these servers do not have the same problem. This has only been happening since I changed my ISP and router, so it definitely has something to do with my Internet connection. Is there some way to fix this without getting a new router/ISP? Thank you for any help,
If you have a tablet or smartphone handy you can go to google play and get a wifi analyzer app and see if there is congestion/interference. I had the same problem and it turned out to be a new appliance was causing the issue; simple channel change fixed it for me. My wife's computer had a similar issue and setting the wifi adapter card's antenna in the laptop's device manager to max power fixed her's.
If you need a free tool to use from a Windows computer you can use Xirrus WiFi Inspector.
EDIT: Are you using WIFI?
My internet speed is fine (50 down, 20 up), but yes, I am using WIFI. Would that cause something like this to happen?

For Mac try this.
