After I go back to the multiplayer menu, it shows communication error with the server for a couple minutes before reverting back to normal.

Tried restarting computer, reinstalling java/minecraft, resetting modem and turning off firewall, nothing works

Hum...why are you running mobius core? That's a core mod for opis, a server mod. Not that clients can't run it, but not sure why you would considering you're connecting to a server and if anything server should be running it?
