i saw some ppl having this problem with 1.7.10 with forge
1.start the game,bounce back
2.blackscreen
3.not working
to fix this:
1.make sure your forge is up-to-date
2.make sure your all mod is compatible
3.make sure your profile is Forge
4.make sure your Version is 1.7.10-Forge10.13.2.1236
and 1 more thing: block ID are heavily CHANGED at 1.8,so make sure backup your world
for crashing
some mod maybe is unstable(it can glitch like biomes O plenty) or not fit with your version,you can try putting one by one
