My son and I are trying to play in the same single-player world he has created by opening it to the LAN.
We both are on Windows 8.1, have registered versions of Minecraft (v1.8, but the world is 1.7.10 and we are using a profile to that effect in both our games), and are on the same subnet.
Everything seems to work fine with opening the world to the LAN. It provides the port number.
When I try to connect, it never finds it when I just click on Multiplayer, it just says "Scanning for games on your local network" forever. When I choose DirectConnect and then enter the IP address of his machine and the port number it says 'Logging in' but nothing ever happens (I have left it for over 15 minutes). When I click cancel, his Minecraft window shows my player leaving the game like it had connected but it never does.
I have tried disabling the firewall on his machine (the one acting as the server) with no impact?
ANY ideas or recommendations would be fantastic!!!
