Hi my son is 7 years old and determined to get him to be able to download Mods. I have never had any luck. Ok so so far I have installed Forge. I have located the .mincraft file and that is where I am placing the downloaded mod files as instructed. However when I open Minecraft 1.7.10 (with Forge profile) I can see the MODS box but in it I only get three Minecraft Codepack, Forge Mod Loader and Minecraft Forge (all show 0 if that makes sense)
I really know nothing about the game so am hoping for some help in really simple terms...it is doing my head in!
Below is my launcher info in case that helps

Well, you really should have posted this in the support forum, but I'll try to help. Are you placing the mod in the ".minecraft" folder? Because that is not where it goes. You should see another folder called "mods" inside of the ".minecraft" folder. That is where downloaded mods go.
Assuming I am on the same page as you, you have the latest Forge installed correctly and the profile to launch 1.7.10 Forge.
(A) The next thing you want to check is the Mod's compatibility. If the Mod is made for other version (eg. 1.6.4) then it will unlikely to work with forge 1.7.10 Forge. Some mods require other mods to run as well.
(B) If you are sure of (A), next thing is to check if the Mod is place in correct folder. go to .Minecraft folder and place the Mod (Usually .jar, but sometimes .zip/.rar) in a folder name "mods". If it's not there, just create a new folder and name it "mods".
(C) If both (A) and (B) failed to help, lol. Check this positive rated video from youtube.
Thanks guys...did not know about the support forum...when I open the .minecraft folder there was no mods folder. I did add one manually before and the downloads are in there and compatible. However I will now switch to option C.
Trying to be as awesome as I can for the little fella :-) but Minecraft Mods have stumped me for years!
If C fails I will post in support thread.
THANK U :-)
