Earlier when I logged in to Minecraft, I realized something fairly quickly. I could not select, destroy, or place any blocks. Anything else in the game I could do; hit mobs, craft, and receive damage. The only way I could place and destroy blocks was if I were in creative mode. I tried on realms and single player and this hasn't changed.
I tried restarting the client, uninstaling and reinstalling the game, and threatening my computer with a spiked bat, but nothing seemed to work. My friends do not seem to have any issues at all.
I'm at the end of my rope here, as it's too short to hang myself with, and seeing as that would be too drastic a measure to take over a videogame, I figured I should turn to the Minecraft community for assistance.
Any help or suggestions on what I can do that I haven't done already would be greatly appreciated.

Apparently I was in Adventure Mode and never realized it. Typing in "/gamemode survival" put me how I was supposed to be. WOO!

Hmm... Good approach with the spiked bat.. Now, try deleting that world,if that doesn't work.. Delete ALL your files.

I cant delete that world as it is a Realm.
When I reinstalled Minecraft, the ONLY files I saved were screenshots and my resources folders. I did put them back in my .minecraft folder however after I got the game back. (I did just try removing these folders and re-launching the game, it changed nothing)
