I have what I assume to be a unique issue with MC. I am using version 1.7.10, with about a hundred mods, but I'm not sure that's really relevant to my problem. To make a long story short, a storm knocked out power the other day while I was playing MC, and once restored and rebooted, I began having trouble with the game. At first it would load to the title screen, but wouldn't let me load any worlds. I assumed my mods may have caused it, so I deleted them all and reinstalled each. After a reinstall/delete of the old .minecraft folder, it worked fine, until I powered the computer off and unplugged it. (I am temporarily without internet at my house, and have to take my whole rig to my friend's to download/use internet. So when I need to do that I have to kill power and move the system). Now every time I remove power from my computer and it has to reboot, my MC won't work. When I click the icon it will display the 'Minecraft' across the screen, then nothing. I have to delete the .minecraft folder and reinstall everything to get it to work. But as soon as I remove power and restart, it does it again. Nothing else with my computer is affected. I've reinstalled java, and am currently trying a system restore, but I'm at my wit's end. Sorry if this is confusing; I will provide any additional details or clarification needed.
