o so every time try to start minecraft i get this

Picked up _JAVA_OPTIONS: -Xmx512M


now it was fine last week everything worked i run minecraft with jvm augments -Xms1024m -Xmx2512m and i have java set for -Xms1024m -Xmx3072m and my java version is version 8 update 25 (build 1.8.0_25-b18). i find this error both for my vilnilla version and my forge version of minecraft. i have compeletly uninstalled java and reinstalled and deleted all java temp files and still no good. i need help bad

Do you have 32bit or 64bit Java?

Also, Forge does not work with Java 8 yet.

I'm having this problem too and i do have 64 bit Java but i'm not trying to use Forge i want to use Vanilla

i have 64 bit and 32 bit java installed and this also effect my vanilla minecraft version 1.64-1.8

Since the last time your minecraft ran you have either added an Xms parameter that is larger than 512M or this _JAVA_OPTIONS variable came into being on your computer. If you haven't played with Xms recently, then try to figure out what changed, it has introduced an environment variable that affects all Java programs on your computer and limits them to 512M heap max.

ive always been running with the xms parmenter larger than 512 but i did recently change it to 1024 to see if it woul dgive better loading

ok i get farther loading but i can use no more then 800-900 mb of memory on my modded side so i cant load that i need 3-4gb for it to work. but i can play vanilla now no problem well i would like the extra memory for it. its like java is no longer taking the xmx and xms commands

The "Picked Up" message indicates that something is setting Xmx to 512m. Until you can get rid of that you won't use more than 512m heap.

i know its driving me nuts i cant use my mods due to it i need to find out what and were to fix it

ok this is getting annoying ive treid everything i looked at everything i can think of i cant find out whats forceing the jave heap size to be 512mb but i need 3-4gb ive uninstalled and reinstalled it so many time clear tone of thing the is making me mad it owuld help if i had more info about where java stores its settings. and i dont mean in control panel

Have you checked your environment variables for this _JAVA_OPTIONS?

Found this in another post:

• Press the Windows key and the Pause/Break key simultaneously
• A window should popup, click on "Advanced system settings"
• Click on "Environment Variables"
• Delete the _JAVA_OPTIONS entry.

there is no variable for it. but i tried a commandpromt to modify java and i get a different error from what minecraft gives it says it cant reserve the space for the increased heap

i have the same problem

now minecraft is saying this after having java uninstalled for a few days and did alot of file clean up

You would need to have 64bit Java installed to be successful at that. The error message implies you have 32bit.

Note that Razer Synapse has been identified as a potential source of the _JAVA_OPTIONS=Xmx512m do you have Razer Synapse?

yeah i have synapes all my equiment is razor so i need it

Then complain to them, as a Razer customer, that their software is messing with your system settings. Maybe Synapse is written in Java and they have no idea how to set their own heap size correctly. Right now they are capping all Java programs at .5G of heap.

to be fair i was not sure it was razor because i did not think that i was related to java due to i dose not have any links to it it the only thing that updated before i had this issue

Razer Synapse is the source of your problem, it has been identified that it forces a .5 G _JAVA_OPTIONS RAM, so you'll have to uninstall or disable razer synapse.
