Okay, so my Macbook Pro just finished updating to OS X Yosemite. My laptop has an admin account that is for my school. Is there any way that I can use the premium Minecraft Launcher without updating my laptop with the Java Developer Kit?

Just an average teen, my fave games are Minecraft, GTA 5, and the Gears of War games.
The JDK is required for the Java compiler to work. Head over to to the Java website and get it (if there are multiple options, choose the one with SE Binary).
EDIT: Actually, found it. Go to http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html and choose the first one (the one on the left).
And good riddance. Apple took months to release new versions of java while we sat wide open to all the security holes that Oracle promptly patched.
Anyway, without v6, you're going to need the jdk if you're going to run it. Just make sure you set java to check for updates automatically.
