(Sorry this is in the wrong place. The support redirect is broken and does nothing.)
I just made a 1.6.4 Forge install profile on my Minecraft game, so that I can play with the Solar Apocalypse mod, one of my favorite mods ever, and the game wants to update that profile to the latest version (Ready to update & play...) instead of just letting me play 1.6.4 like I need to.
I feel like I'm missing something here, because everywhere I've looked, there is no definitive info on this. The one lead I got ended up leading me to a dead end (as there seems to be no way to turn on offline mode without tinkering with advancedsecurity!Firewall, which I've done before but am hesitant to do here).
How does one go about turning off these auto-updates?

I already tinkered around with that menu- it's already set to 1.6.4 with Forge, but Minecraft wants to update anyway?? What the frickle am I doing wrong?
What happens if you try playing anyway (can't hurt)?
It seems like you might of tried installing Forge without running the game at least once (but it should prevent you from installing in that case, not familiar with Forge but a good installer should tell you that you need to run the game once). You can also go to your .minecraft folder (shortcut - in the profile editor it will show the path, along with a button to open the directory, note that versions are only installed to the original .minecraft folder if you changed it for a custom profile) and check the versions folder to see if there is a Forge version installed (it should be named after the version of Forge you installed and contain a jar and json file with the same names).

2. Select the profile you want to play the mod on
3. Click edit profile.
4. Click "use version"
5. Select the version of forge you are using
6. Play

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
Apologies for the fuss over what turned out to be nothing, lol...I didn't know what to do!
