I've seen threads discussing how graphics cards are too old to allow shaders, but my issue is a little different.
My specs:
I have a GeForce 9600GT with 4095MB
Windows 8.1 64bit
7G RAM (I know I should have 8 but I just burnt out an old card)
Core 2 Quad processor 2.4 GHz
(perhaps more than you needed but hey..)
I just installed a new HD yesterday when the old one crashed, new OS, updated to the most recent graphics drivers.
Before the HD crash I was able to view shaders on minecraft *with and without* mods, now with all this new stuff going on I can't. I've downloaded the Equanimity texture pack, but the shaders won't work with default either.
I'm attempting to trudge my way through MCPatcher 5.0.0_01 as well (I've only ever used Forge in the past,) just throwing that out in case it's that program that is mucking things up? I've attempted to install a custom shader through this, Mr Meep Waving Grass, Leaves and Wheat, but again, I can't even get the default shaders to function.
I know I'm doing something wrong, but none of the forums or videos I've viewed address the fact that **I used to be able to view shaders, now I can't**
