Up until yesterday, for no apparent reason I seem to be getting crashes when using Optifine with a x128 texture back (Sphax).
I have tried changing my JVM argument to allocate more RAM (-Xmx2G -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+CMSIncrementalMode -XX:-UseAdaptiveSizePolicy -Xmn128M)
but when in game, hitting f3 only brings up that I oinly have 390Mb allocated. and 499Mb Mem.
I have also checked my Parameters within Java itself, and there is no parameters set.
The lower number is going to win. It's possible this is coming from an environment variable _JAVA_OPTIONS, or it could be coming from your profile setting.
The Java arguments box. It would be at the far right end of all the text presumably.
Other people have had the mysterious extra 512M memory parameter (with logs demonstrating that it came from _JAVA_OPTIONS) but have been unable to find it. It gets injected from somewhere. You could search around the forum... I think but am not sure that some of these people found success by uninstalling Java and re-installing, which might indicate that there can be a configuration file where it is coming from. (or not).
The extra -xmx doesn't seem to come from anywhere in my profile settings or otherwise.
I've tried delete JAVA completely from the computer, but to no avail it would seem.
I have this same exact issue, it started today, when i played this morning i had 4 gigs allocated, then i played around with some textures in one of my packs, and next thing i know im getting crashes.
now i have the phantom _java_options xmx512 in my logs, and cannot find it ANYwhere, i dont get it.

This is the pastebin from the crash: http://pastebin.com/rnj93ke3
and screen cap of the data in f3 when I change to x64: http://i.imgur.com/A5crLT2.png
If anything else is needed, I'm more than happy to supply. (:

What would I be changing in my profile setting?
