Last night I was playing for a good while when all of a sudden I get a dreaded BSOD (first time ever receiving one while playing MC). After I rebooted my computer and loaded MC again I realized that there is now a huge hole in the middle of a tunnel system I was digging out. Here are a few screenshots of it to give you an idea of what I am talking about:
The odd thing is I can't walk into the hole, there is basically an invisible wall blocking me. I also can not build anything in the hole (well I guess I can, but the block doesn't appear though it makes the sound as if it did build). The wall is also not able to be seen from the top/surface. I also have noticed that since this has happened some of the bricks I try to destroy won't break so I have to quit and load the world up again for them to work right.
My question is, is there a way to fix this? For now I have covered the hole up so it can't be seen, but I had plans to dig out going in that direction. I feel as if part of the worlds data got corrupted or something, yet I don't know how to begin fixing that. I should add that I am fairly new to MC and after doing research it finds out this may be a chunk error. However I was reading about chunk errors and they seem to be more common in multiplayer (judging by what I read) and often times they are only temporary. Mine is permanent, I hope there is a fix.
Edit: I just realized another problem that may or may not relate to my initial post. For some reason, and only in certain areas, if I lay out a stone brick block and come back 5 minutes later, I find that the texture has turned to cobblestone. If I mine the blocks it says they are stone bricks.. Also, in certain areas as well, if I put down a stone slab it disappears entirely when I come back it to. What gives?!
Edit edit: Sorry to make this longer, but just found out that the hole is in fact viewable from the surface, but not only that it destroyed part of the building I have been working on, and here's what it looks like when I try to build back in that area. You can see the outline of the block as if it's highlighted, but the block's texture will not appear. This is starting to frustrate me beyond belief.
