What are your computer specs?? it could be something as easy as your render distance it too high.. I have yet to update to Java 8, It could also be a problem with Minecraft's compatibility with Java 8.
More than likely it is Java 8. I run macs and manually updated to 8 and all my java programs would not open and gave me a pop-up saying to get java 6.
There could be a corrupt chunks in your world. Just click the render distance down and then back up. Or walk into the chunks, I have to do that all the time in servers. Your ram is low so I would defiantly make sure you keep your graphics low, my old laptop does have rendering glitches similar to this.
Technically it could be (not likely) your graphics card. So if downgrading to Java 6 does not work, check out the card.
In the past 2 worlds I have loaded there has been terrain errors. Take a look at the screenshot.
Please help me if you know what to do!
I have 3.5 gigs allocated to minecraft when running
