Hey guys, I've been having this problem for a little while, and I have no clue how to fix it. It's really frustrating me, because I would really like to get back into playing some more.
Basically the issue I'm having is that the memory usage in the F3 screen slowly raises, until it hits max, I get a large lag spike, and the it repeats, over and over again, the lag spike getting worse every time. In Ctl+Alt+Delete Java slowly raises in memory usage, never lowering.
I have 8 gigs of ram, a 64 bit windows 7, and a GTX560Ti (Not the greatest card, but still a nice one.)
I have Java Version 8 update 25 installed, 64 bit, and my graphics card drivers are up to date. I've messed with raising and lowering the ram, even downgrading to previous versions, and it happens no matter what I do. Do you guys have any info for me? Thanks in advance.
Ah, yes, thank you. That has fixed it. I believe whoever originally told me how to add more ram mistook a letter, since they told me to edit Xmx and Xmn, not Xmx and Xms like I needed to.

Goto your launcher.
Press Edit Profile
It will say JVM arguments somewhere towards the bottom
Tick the box Beside and In there what does it say?
-Xmx500M -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+CMSIncrementalMode -XX:-UseAdaptiveSizePolicy -Xmn500M
Glad to help,
