So I have this really old world from Beta 1.2.2. I always played on that world whenever I wanted to play survival. Today, I went on, and many of my chests were gone. I looked around and noticed that the chests I more recently placed were still there. I went into my other worlds to confirm this. I even tried using my backups, including ones from 2012, and I got the same results. I think 1.8 may be screwing around with my world. Can anyone confirm this?
I also noticed something that may or may not be part of the problem:
I also saw that there were wooden slabs in one of my newer chests that were missing a texture in the inventory, but looked fine when placed. They also behaved like the old slabs, where you would need a pickaxe in order to break them. They worked normally in my other worlds.

I apologize in advance if I don't post on an RP for a while; I'm still sorting things out.
If I recall correctly, chests used to be a full block, but changed to a tile entity instead. The conversion from an old world to the new one may have removed them, if you jumped several versions at once.

You mean how they changed in Beta 1.8? The only problems I had with that were the chests looking like they were turned 90 degrees. They disappeared completely when I went from the last update to Release 1.8, or possibly 1.8.1.
