So i recently downloaded minecraft 1.8 on to my computer (windows 8) and for some reason when I open it up and try to log in nothing happens. What I mean by this is that I can run the .exe and then log in with an account on 1.8, but after that the game just won't open. Now this is not only effecting vanilla minecraft but all ftb mods as well. When I open task manager I can see the java platform open and using cpu and when I close the one using cpu it reopens the login window. I can see the console for the run game and for both FTB and vanilla the last thing is always LWJGL Version: 2.9.1. Does anyone know what my problem is and how i can fix it?

I used to have this problem. I reinstalled minecraft and it worked fine.

I have gone into the %appdata% folder and deleted minecraft an reinstalled it twice now and the same issue is present.
