I've tried doing some searching online, but because the search result is vague, it's hard to find anything. I also asked on Reddit, but I got ignored.
Anyway, I'm trying to setup a server using MC 1.7.10 that has a heavy focus on adventuring. Because of this, I've been trying out various dungeon mods. roguelike dungeons, Chocolate Quest, Dungeon Pack, etc.
The problem is, in my testing of the mods, I've noticed that even when I'm connected to the server, when I'm exploring, sometimes the game will freeze up for a bit. Sometimes it's just 1-2 seconds, others it's been closer to 20 seconds. Once or twice it's been even more. When this happens, MC seems to jump from a normal 8-15% of my CPU to 25% of my CPU.
At first, I thought this was my computer being crappy. It's not the best, though I figured it should be more than enough to run MC. However, I was testing the server with a friend yesterday, and it happened to us both simultaneously when we were close to each other (when we were away from each other, it locked up for him, but not for me). Also, we noticed it happened when stuff from mods was being generated. It would sometimes "pop" in front of us immediately after it came back from being frozen. I would keep the server console up, and I would notice it would happen oftentimes with Battle Towers were being generated or when Chocolate Quest would generate a new castle or something.
Things got better when I removed Millenaire and turned off the Dungeon Pack's boss dungeons, but it still happens from time to time. I added in Chocolate Quest, and it got a bit worse again. So, it doesn't seem entirely that the mods themselves are poorly coded (though I could be wrong).
Here's a list of mods that I've noticed issues with:
Does anyone know if this is avoidable? Is it related to 1.7.10? Newer versions of forge? It's been really annoying. We were thinking about doing a YouTube series based off of this adventuring, and I'm a bit concerned that may get a bit messed up by us hitting portions where we have to wait and load for 30 seconds. Or, is this just 100% going to happen with adventure based dungeon mods?
Any help or advice at all would be appreciated.
