For a long time now my girlfriend and I enjoyed playing Minecraft. However, when the new launcher got released it all went wrong.
We both got laptops with switchable graphics. Both of the laptops reached over 1000 fps at one point. I got an ATI/Intel combo and she has a nVidia/Intel combo. My laptop works perfectly fine having the Intel switched off in the BIOS. With her laptop this is not possible. She is running on a clean installation of Windows 64 bit on an SSD. Tried formatting in case of a strange glitch, this didn't work so we reverted back using a system image. Our systems are actually pretty good, but the Intel integrated GPU is making it unplayable.
The problematic laptop will NOT use the nVidia at all. It will always select the Intel giving extremely poor performance. What I tried so far:
Using different versions of Java (6,7,8) : No success
Using 32bit version of Java : Success BUT due to memory limiter cannot play long or modify minecraft as it'll crash due to memory issues.)
Using different drivers: No success (Tried factory default, updated optimus/cuda drivers, geForce experience drivers etc..)
Using NV Inspector to change shim options : No success
Using different launchers e.g. Technic / FTB / direct bat : No success
Changing nVidia settings (Profile in 3D application settings) : No success
Forcing java.exe instead of javaw.exe : No success
I Honestly am at a loss because I tried everything I could think off.
If further information is needed i'll post any needed logs.
Any help would be appreciated!
