whenever i try to join this 1.7.2 whitelisted server (yes im on the whitelist) Whenever i try to join, it throws an exception: io.netty.handler.codec.DecoderException: java.io.IOException: Bad packet id 84

Sounds like a network error.

Can you connect to other servers ok?

Is the ping of the server you are trying to connect to low enough?

What Operating System are you running?
