Minecraft worked fine for the first month that I had it but now it's lagging so bad that I can't play anymore. It doesn't matter what biome I'm in (even in the jungle, looking at jungle leaves) or if I'm flying high in the air (thus still able to see everything) or walking on the ground but so long as I keep looking straight down I'm getting 50-60 fps. As soon as I look in any other direction it drops to less than 3 fps and will stay that way until I look down again. It's driving me insane.
I've scoured all the forums and every article I can find that gives tips for improving fps and done almost everything recommended to do including:
Running the latest version of 64bit Java on my 64 bit system
Allocating more RAM- it's at 2g now
Removing my texture pack
Trying a texture pack rumoured to improve fps (no change)
Deleting minecraft and all it's files (minus my worlds), then re-installing
Deleting all but my 3 favorite worlds
Changing all the graphics settings to the ones in here
I don't have Optifine because it doesn't appear to be out for 1.8 yet. I don't want to download an older version of Minecraft just to get it to work-- all my worlds are already 1.8 and I don't want them getting screwed up.
It doesnt make any sense why it would work fine for so long and then all of a sudden crap out. Does anyone know what's going on?
Nope. Nothing new installed and I close out of everything before I try to open the game now. Before that didn't matter though. The game does eat up a little over half my CPU just by itself, but that's also no different than when I first started playing. Without Minecraft running msconfig says only 3% is used, in game it jumps to 60%. My system is barely up to the recommended specs, but like I said it ran fine for a good while before.
