I have been having a problem updating to 1.8 were it gets stuck on downloading realms 1.5.8.jar after a bit it ends but when I push play it just loops back to that is there anything I can do I tried deleting the folder and downloading a new launcher but non of it works it works when I downgrade to 1.7.10 but not 1.8
The issue appears to be on Mojang's end. We'll have to wait until they resolve the issue. You can try updating to 1.8.1 pre-release 2 as it is not affected by this issue: https://mojang.com/2014/10/minecraft-1-8-1-pre-release-1/

I'm afraid pre-releases do not work with Realms.
