I just joined a server and have had log on issues due to my wifi source being on the other side of the house. Yet I had discovered that this happened all of a sudden only when using MC...and after I recently updated my java runtime to the latest 64 bit and then decided to use Nightly because it was a 64 bit browser...
Using my ignorant but sometimes works divination....I decided to uninstall the java and reinstall. I also got rid of the .minecraft file and ran minecraft to create a new one. I then put back in my resource pack and mod folder. I re-installed the Forge version the server I joined uses...
Oh yeah need to mention that I had to add a fix to the Forge profile in the beginning of using it to stop the black screen load. it was just adding "-D.forge.forceNoStencil=true" statement in the profile editor...(first part may not be correct just going on memory not actually looking it up) This fix which I got off of YouTube worked.
Using mods Better Storage, Relmap, Optifine. and a 64x texture Wolfhound.
So I go to run Minecraft and hit play...it goes through the load and is never goes to the Mojang logo screen etc to the main menu.
Omg it is Fahrvergnügen crazy. My builds, my builds! I got to finish that attempt at a spiral staircase lol!
So now, I am going to uninstall Java and reinstall both 32 and 64 and see what happens...If this fails I will get a new d/l of Minecraft.exe and see...NOTHING CHANGED.
I decided to uninstall Java 8 and install the earlier version: DID NOT WORK.
AND all this did not fix was trying to run exe minecraft no mods or Forge.
Now off to Mojang support!
Ok moral of this thread is to go to Mojang for support.
You see someone there in the chat help http://webchat.esper.net/?channels=minecrafthelp# was there and I got a few ideas but what worked was JavaRA. I could install and uninstall from my control panel all I wanted and this would never fix with out the help of JavaRA...somehow I am one of the reasons RA exists because my uninstalls were bogus without it or my Java environment was unstable? I mean even one tech thought earlier that it was really unusual that I would click and nothing would happen even if I put minecraft exe in my c drive and ran it in command prompt and nothing happened. He thought I had serious computer issues but suggested to go to HiJackthis and get a log...then the next tech suggested JavaRA...not sure if it was based on the log or just a light-bulb-above-the-head thing.
Another interesting thing about the chat site is that while you wait for tech support you can read other user dilemmas and a funny thing is the wait even sparked the imagination of Mojang being seized by a Creeper Mob Jihad and destroyed forever lol
