System Specs: AMD Phenom II X6 1090 @ 3.2Ghz, Windows 7 Ultimate latest patches, 16Gb ram, ATI Radeon 6950 2Gb ram, Single HD monitor, Last 64bit Java 1.7 release. 7200RPM 1Tb IDE drive.
Minecraft launcher is setup with 4Gb ram in the java area under profile settings, and is set to use the correct java exe file. Profile set to run 1.7.10 currently, but 1.8 has the same issues.
Minecraft shows 40FPS once the chunks near me completely load, but when I travel the FPS drops as low as 1 to 2 FPS, with occasional waits with 0 FPS while chunks load. This occurs regardless of system status, I can cold boot the system and start Minecraft with nothing else started and I get the same issues. There are only a limited number of items running in the background at startup, and none require more than 1% CPU time. I have checked affinity and Minecraft is set to use all 6 cores, and have upped the priority to high for it.
This issue does not change when I run vanilla Minecraft vs vanilla Minecraft, nor does it change with different resource packs. Any suggestions that might help me get above 60FPS would be appreciated, especially if it will lessen or remove the stop action when I travel.
Optifine will almost certainly help in some regard, It's kind of odd that's happening though. I dunno, have you tried deleting your .minecraft folder and then running minecraft to see if it helps? Back it up first of course, just-in-case. I know doing that has fixed similar issues before for me. I've also used MCEdit to fix corrupted chunks which has fixed the most recent issue i've had like this.

I have reinstalled several times during the course of making mods play nice together, and optifine is out of the question seeing as I want to use MCPatcher for my install if I can get rid of the laggy low FPS issues, but thanks for making the suggestions.

Still looking for an answer to this issue if anyone has any suggestions. Perhaps I need to change things with my java arguments? Not sure what to do and want to get the game running smoothly.
Thanks
