Made a world in creative mode. Set the mode to survival - and can't place or do anything other than open chests. Why? 1.8 bug? I even tried changing the gamemode in the .dat file with gamemodechanger.jar - no dice.
Sorry - false alarm - gamemode 2 was used instead of 0 - sorry to those who read it - but I'm leaving it here in case anyone makes the same mistake. (actually I have no choice it seems - I can't find how to delete the thread)
You may have gotten confused with the /gamemode numbers, perhaps. For gamemodes, 0 is survival, 1 is creative, 2 is adventure, and I believe 3 is spectator.
