I'm interested in importing a 1.6.4 modded Minecraft map to 1.7.10. I'm wondering if there's some kind of program or conversion utility I can use to achieve this.
My main base is on an island, and that's all I want to import. So it would actually be fine if I could just export a schematic of it somehow and paste it in on a 1.7.10 map, so long as the construction were intact.
Modded maps, almost impossible. Even if you're using exactly the same mods, and even if the mods didn't change much between versions, unless those mods have mechanisms that allow importing 1.6 blocks/items/biomes/whatever (not many have them), importing a 1.6 map will break stuff.
I'm aware of the difficulties. I'd still like to hear any ideas people have on how to accomplish it. Any world editor programs that might be useful, any ideas or workaround solutions. Even something obtuse, like changing all chocolate blocks to vanilla blocks, converting, and then changing the blocks back is in the cards.
