I want to have Minecraft on my Mac but I'm not allowed to download anything on it. The only place I can download things is from my Windows 8 PC. I want to be able to install and save all of my Minecraft files on a USB so when I plug it into my Mac, it won't affect it, and Minecraft will run from the USB only.
Unfortunately, you cannot run Minecraft solely from a USB drive. It has to place files in your home directory in order to properly work. You can copy the Windows files from %APPDATA%/.minecraft to the flash drive. The launcher will pull the missing files, which you can then copy to the flash drive and then use in between the two computers, as long as you copy the files from the flash drive to the appropriate directory.
I know there's an option on Windows that lets you trick your computer into thinking your a folder on your USB drive is a folder on your computer, which would work, but I'm not sure if there's something like that on Macs.
Any ideas?
Thanks
