Unfortunately, this did not work. I have also saved my game and i fear that I have saved with my "no items" issue now and I cannot go back no matter what, now. I'm on Windows 8.1 so restore is out of the question unless I was using file history, which I just discovered, that is disabled by default.
I was recently messing around with the advanced features of the profile window. Here is what happened.
1. Created a new profile for 1.7.10 so I could run some older mods having upgraded to 1.8 vanilla natively
2. Installed java x64
3. Switched the path in the profile for the newly created profile to the new version of Java
4. Loaded my main game created with 1.8 with this new profile on 1.7.10. No items in my inventory or chests show up! Everything else seems normal.
5. Start sweating and return everything back to normal settings and delete the profile I had created in 1.7.10
6. Loaded my main game under 1.8 making sure my path to x32 Java was correct. Essentially, think everything is back to normal now?
7. No, no items still!
8. Load up 6 other of my games. No items!
9. How did i screw this up and is there any way to get my items back?
Thanks in advance for any feedback. I would be devastated if there is not a fix for what I've done.

Moderatorthe ways items are stored (item ID's) has changed in 1.8 and 1.7.x doesn't understand this so the items vanish
