I'm planning a vanilla server with mods that will contain the normal popular ones, but later in the future, planning to have custom made ones. I understand that any mods included on the server, players connecting to the server would need them. A first important note before you post is that I do have knowledge about Bukkit, but the reason for modding the vanilla instead of Bukkit is for the following reasons:
The recent EULA changes and development problems that follow
The "early access" of the software (due to that when a update happens, so will the updated version of server software
I don't have to rely on third party software
This relates to the point above, I will be dealing with software on an independent basis, no need to rely on and wait for plugins while they are getting updated for the newer version of Bukkit.
I have put the points above to explain the reasons for not choosing Bukkit so others can answer my question better.
The Question: I'm having issues with merging mods onto the vanilla software, that errors come up in the log. I have not deleted the "META_INF" folder. Another question to point out is that when I had a vanilla server (about 2 years ago) all you had to do was to get the .exe file downloaded from Minecraft.net, port forward and that was it. I have had issues with this about .jar and .exe and inserting that text on the website, which all of this being confusing and not helped anyway by other threads on these forums and that the videos I have seen on YouTube.
I hope that people can help me and I do apologise for the length of this but I cannot get my message/question out their without doing so.
Kind Regards,
