Passwords aren't stored in the player DAT files, they're sent by the client to the Mojang servers. DAT files store stuff like location, inventory, enderchest inventory.
For versions before UUIDs, you can just rename the dat file with your name. Example: renaming XisumaVoid.dat to AppleEater01.dat will put you where Xisuma last logged out and with his inventory.
I THINK you can do the same with UUID dats but you would have to know which UUID belonged to which Hermit and your OWN UUID to boot.
Edit: Doing this will not make you appear as someone else, you're still you but with their in-game inventory.
There are other players on the world with .dat files since it's a server world.
Would it be possible to be able to "pretend" that I am another player so I can access their enderchest and such.
It is a 1.6 world so no player id doohickeys.
