Optifine not letting me use resource packs

Hi! I am very new to modding, and I have downloaded Optifine. So, it works with my Faithful 32X32 pack, but when I downloaded A'thery's Ascended for the map Herobrine's Mansion, it wont let me use the pack. It doesn't give me a crash report either.

That's not quite explaining. Can you not select them or after selecting does it not change or what?

When I select the pack it will load for a bit and then revert to the default textures
So I can select them, but it doesn't change

Okay that's a lot better. In fact I still have this same problem. I'm just as stuck as you though.

Like, it will let me use Sphax PureBDCraft but not this one. It's really strange
