I am experiencing the strangest bug. While playing on a server, i have discovered that when I get near a ocean temple, I get disconnected with the error "io.netty.handler.timeout.ReadTimeoutException". Even stranger is the effects of these DC's: one of two things can happen.
The client is disconnected, but this is not recognized by the server leaving the player character functioning, but with no control. This usually results in death by guardian or drowning.
Upon relogging, a clone of the player is created: an uncontrolable version of the player character remains. These clones can be killed, dropping a full inventory identical to the one I had at the time. These are not ghost items: they are real items, and can be used.
While some would consider the ability to clone items useful, this bug is preventing me from accessing any ocean temple, which I really want to do.
This may be asking for a lot. An video of this being done would be greatly useful. If not possible, A copy of the world and coordinates where this happens (you can remove your player data files from the world before upload to file host if concern for your UUID privacy).

This video does not show a disconnect from the server, however reloging has the same effect. As you can see from the chat, all players on the server see the message from the clones death, and have been able to see the clones. The clones drop the items within the inventory, and the death counter on the player list increments, so they share the same player file, and reloging results in the respawn screen showing as the server considers me dead. Before relogging, I am able to influence events, even though the server clearly considers me dead, as I am able to break the boat, and kill my clone.
As for the map, I will try to get a copy, but I doubt the server administrator will release it to me. Also, there are no coordinates: this occurs only when within loading distance of an ocean temple.

Well, that is quite an bug alright. An you are 100% positive this is the non spigot server with protocol patch right? An instead is the server from Minecraft.net. (Just for 100% clarifications)
While I certainly know not an way to fix this. Reporting this bug is kinda not needed, I took the time and dug in Atlassin to find any similar. An yes it is not the first time this has happened.
So I cannot tell you an solution sadly. The bug report was re-opened by Dinnerbone and so it is known as it was once upon a time fixed, but has surfaced again.

UPDATE: I have started having this problem in my base after starting a large cow farm, leading me to believe the bug is caused by a poor connection and high entity count. I am not entirely sure of this, as I have had no issues with huge numbers of mobs while xp grinding.
Anyway, after reading the post you linked, I have started wondering why this issue has only started occurring for me after the 1.8 update, which I have been having issues with. (low tick rate in single player, slow world generation, random crashes from the title screen and getting stuck on "downloading terrain" when opening a single player world.) I'm starting to wonder if i have any kind of hardware incompatibility with something in the update, or perhaps something did not update properly.

^ I have seen broken links/quotes/images, but this forum software and editor really does it all.
