Running Windows 7 and Java version 7 update 67.

I've got version 1.7.10 downloaded.

Downloaded "OptiFine_1.7.10_HD_U_A4.jar" from the official Optifine thread.

Clicking the .jar just gives a cmd popup that quickly vanishes. It says: "Error: Could not find or load main class C:\Users\Erik\Desktop\Optifine_1.7.10_HD_U_A4.jar"

After having looked through a few tutorials, I'm stumped; the program should be running by now, but it's not. Why is this?

I can run vanilla minecraft just fine, but this would help a lot if you guys could chime in; thanks in advance.

I'd previously used Optifine and nothing else on another computer, which worked fine for a few months.

I'll go ahead and try the Forge B/simple though, and hopefully that fixes things.

I highly recommend installing Optifine with Forge. Makes it really easy to add other mods and keep the performance enhancements that it provides.

I'm typically not one for texture packs, but I'll keep chroma hills in mind.

Thanks for recommending Forge; I just want to run around for a while in vanilla before I download any mods.
